Why should I get Certified?

When do I Register?
The FALL exam registration window will be open July 2, 2025, through October 3, 2025. Candidates will sit for the exam September 6 through October 4, 2025. The exam will feature questions based on federal laws and regulations in effect as of January 1,
2025.
The SPRING exam registration window will be open November 10, 2025 through April 17, 2026. Candidates will sit for the exam January 5 through April 18, 2026. The exam will feature questions based on federal laws and regulations in effect
as of January 1, 2025.

North America residents can now register and take their exam from the comfort of their home or office using OnVUE, PearsonVUE's online proctoring exam delivery system!

Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC)
A certification credential for payroll beginners and service and support professionals in positions requiring payroll knowledge. Payroll experience is not required to take this exam. The exam consists of 150 questions, and candidates have 3 hours to complete it.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
A certification credential for those with extensive payroll knowledge and experience. The Certification Board requires that payroll professionals fulfill one of several eligibility criteria before taking the CPP exam. The exam consists of 190 questions, and candidates have 4 hours to complete it.

Digital Badges
We have partnered with Credly to provide you with a digital version of your credentials. Digital badges can be used in email signatures or digital resumes, and on social media sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. This digital image contains verified metadata that describes your qualifications and the process required to earn them.
