You've studied for the exam and finally passed! Congratulations, you now have a Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation to advance your professional career. But should you take the time and effort to recertify your credentials every three or five years?

If you find yourself asking these questions, remember all your time and effort originally spent to reach that goal, and the pride and accomplishment you felt becoming more knowledgeable in many aspects of your profession. Having the FPC/CPP letters in your professional signature gives your colleagues, clients, and coworkers the confidence that you are knowledgeable and dedicated to your vocation.

Attending webinars, training, and conferences to retain your certification will ensure you continue to learn and keep up with the ever-changing world of payroll. At the same time, you will also connect with many other payroll professionals who can help you discover new growth and business opportunities. Collaboration with other FPCs/CPPs will help you tackle complex situations and issues, giving you a network of subject matter experts at your fingertips.

If cost is an issue, PayrollOrg offers many free webinars for members throughout the year. PayrollOrg's chapters also offer opportunities to earn recertification credit hours (RCHs).

PayrollOrg also has a list of "approved providers" and classes attendees can take to receive RCHs. These providers include but are not limited to the following: ADP, Bloomberg, Dayforce, Illumeo, Inc., Lorman, MyCPE, Paylocity, and UKG.
